Hack Club: The Game IRL

A scavenger hunt game across New York City

After building awesome projects, 80 teenagers got to fly out and play the game with others across Manhattan: running between zones, completing challenges, and racing other houses for territory before the weekend's over.

Here's a couple challenges that players had:

Speedrun

Be one of the first three teams to claim any zone today.

Team Spirit

Get a photo with another team wearing your house colors.

Times Square

Find a billboard with a color matching your house and pose in front of it.

Grand Central Terminal

Whisper your house name across the Whispering Gallery and record the reaction.

Subway Scholar

Name every subway line you rode today, on camera.

The High Line

Walk the full length and film a 10-second recap of what you saw.

Here's what
you're actually doing

Map

Using airtags, your team's position is displayed in real time, along with everybody else. Different Zones have different challenges that you can complete to earn points!

Zones

Every zone has a challenge attached to it. Do the challenge, send in proof, and the zone earns your team points every hour you hold it.

Stealing

Any other team can retake a zone you're holding by finishing the same challenge. Keep checking the map, and keep track of your zone's status.

Teams

80 teenagers, 4 houses and 20 teams. Plan with your teammates, and aim to comeplete the most challenges to earn the most points!

Challenges

Not everything is tied to a zone. General challenges are open to everyone for points, and every so often a live event pops up too.

Leaderboard

Keep track of the game; every challenge and zone updates the leaderboard, so you'll always know exactly where your team and house stand.
